Packaging

Packaging is used to protect, transport and apply products. Packaging is often sourced from suppliers as products. Packaging materials are then combined into a Bill of Materials forming a product.

Product => Material => Bill of Material => Product

Packaging Materials can have multiple suppliers, each with their own product.

Packaging materials have the following setup

  • One or More Packaging elements
    • One or more Packaging Materials
      • One or more packaging Materials

Full setup: Packaging Material

  • ArticleNr (internal ID)
  • UMID (unique material identifier)
  • Name/Description
  • Packaging type {codelist:PackagingType} (this is the key packaging type)
  • One or more packaging elements
    • Per element one or more materials
      • Packaging Type {codelist:PackagingType}
      • Material type (every material type belongs to one Material Class)
      • Weight in Kg
      • Set of Attributes (list of attributes depends on material class
    • Composites are materials are often layered materials, where every layer is again a material (with full set of material attributes.
