Essentially, any business process or interaction that involves the exchange or movement of goods, services, or information can be considered a transaction. Here are some common types of transactions (based on EPCIS):
- Purchase Orders: Transactions related to the ordering of goods or services from a supplier.
- Sales Orders: Transactions involving the sale of goods or services to a customer.
- Shipments: Transactions involving the physical movement of goods from one location to another, which could be from a supplier to a warehouse, between warehouses, or from a seller to a buyer.
- Receipts: Transactions involving the acceptance and check-in of goods into a warehouse or retail location.
- Returns: Transactions involving the return of goods by customers or the return of unsold goods to a supplier.
- Service Orders: Transactions involving the provision of services, which may or may not be associated with physical goods.
- Transfer Orders: Internal transactions involving the movement of goods from one location to another within the same company, like from a production facility to a warehouse.
- Work Orders: Transactions involving production or manufacturing processes where raw materials are transformed into finished goods.
- Loan and Rental Transactions: Transactions involving the temporary provision of goods or equipment to a partner, customer, or within the organization.
- Consignment Transactions: Transactions where goods are placed with a third party
