Packaging

Packaging is used to protect, transport and apply products. Packaging is often sourced from suppliers as products. Packaging materials are then combined into a Bill of Materials forming a product.

Sales Unit = Product (Consumable, Durable or Disposable) + Packaging

Packaging Materials can have multiple suppliers, each with their own product.

Packaging Data has the following setup

  • Product Packaging consists of One or More Packaging elements
    • Packaging Element is of a Packaging Type
    • Each element can consist of One or more Materials
      • Materials can be mono materials (PET, Aluminium) or Composites
      • Composites can be either Bulk (Mixed like stainless and carbon steel) or Layered (eg. drinking carton)
      • Per Material you have material class dependent attributes.

Full setup: Packaging Material

  • Packaging type {codelist:PackagingType} (this is the key packaging type)
  • ArticleNr (internal ID)
  • UMID (unique material identifier)
  • Name
  • One or more packaging elements
      • Packaging Type {codelist:PackagingType}
    • Per Packaging Element one or more materials and per material
      • Material type (every material type belongs to one Material Class)
      • Weight (Units: μg, g, Kg}
      • Set of Attributes with values (the of attributes depends on material class)
    • Composites Materials have again material lines (with full set of material attributes).

Material Class specific attributes

These attributes are dependent of the material class

  • Material Source per material class
  • Class: Polymer
    • Colour (Picklist)
    • Form Type (Picklist)
  • Class: Glass
    • Recoverable (nolean: Yes, No, Undefined)
  • Class: Metal
    • Thickness Number, Units (μm, mm)
